A five-seater sofa does not have one standard width. A straight layout, a corner arrangement and a curved modular design can each seat five while occupying very different floor space. Start with the exact configuration and its labelled measurements, then compare usable seating, walking routes and delivery access.
Seat count is not a footprint
The seating name helps you compare the range, but it does not describe the shape of the room you need. Wide arms take up space without adding usable seats. A chaise projects into the room. A curved layout may leave space behind the back. Draw the complete outline rather than measuring only the wall where you expect the sofa to sit.
Read length, depth and height together
Identify which edge each measurement describes on the selected layout. For an L-shaped design, record both overall directions and the chaise projection. Overall depth is different from usable seat depth: the back, cushions and frame also occupy space. If the diagram and written specification appear inconsistent, ask about the selected option before ordering.
Compare real five-seat configurations
The product comparison below uses dimensions currently listed for selected Farrelli models. These are configuration-specific examples, not a standard size for all five-seaters. Benn is a particularly large example: its listed overall length is 462.28 cm. That is a reason to measure the full room carefully, rather than assume a five-seat label describes a compact lounge.
Test the outline on your floor
Mark the full outline with removable tape or paper, including the chaise or curve. Open the nearby doors and walk the routes you normally use. Put a temporary outline where the coffee table would sit too. A sofa may technically fit between two walls yet leave an awkward path to a balcony, dining area or cabinet.
Check the route as a separate decision
The assembled footprint does not tell you the largest delivery component. Record the entry door, corridor turns, lift and stairs, then compare them with packed-module measurements. Do not assume a modular design arrives in pieces small enough for every doorway. If the route includes a tight turn, send measurements and photographs for review.
Choose with the whole arrangement in view
Shortlist by the layout that serves your room first, then compare material, seat height and care. Keep the selected configuration with your order notes. If you need a different orientation or arrangement, establish that it is actually supported rather than interpreting a styled room photograph as a configuration menu.
Compare actual products
These examples use the dimensions currently listed for the selected models. Check the selected configuration and product details before ordering; the conceptual interior image is not a product photograph.

Frequently asked questions
How wide is a five-seater sofa?
There is no single standard width. Use the labelled overall dimensions of the selected model and configuration.
Are modular five-seaters always smaller?
No. Modularity describes the sectional construction, not the total footprint or the size of the delivery components.
Does the listed depth include the chaise?
Check the labelled layout. Record the full footprint and chaise projection rather than inferring them from an unlabelled measurement.
